When Insiders Resist

Jun 15, 2025    Thomas Cornette

In week five of our Revival Still In Progress series through Ezra–Nehemiah, Pastor Thomas shares an insightful and thought-provoking word from verses throughout Ezra chapters 9-10 titled “When Insiders Resist”.

The book of Ezra ends on an anti-climactic note as there is a decree that those who were intermarried with the foreign nations were to get divorced and separate. However, where there is separation among men, there is and should be unity in the kingdom of God, bound together by the blood of Jesus Christ. Where there is failure among men, there is grace and purity in Christ.

👉 Key Takeaways:

Life Is Messy – We cannot expect perfection.

Let The Word Lead You – Not the crowd or expeditious answer.

The Gospel Without Grace Is Not The Gospel – It's religious legalism.

This message is a reminder that there will be times where we are presented with opportunities to follow our own plans, and submit to our own decrees. However, even if the intentions are honorable and good, it lands flat if it doesn't align with God's will and plan for us and others. In order for revival to be effective, there MUST be a proper reverence for God's plans and commands so that we can live the way He has called us to live.
